Degree Courses

From the academic year 2005-06, the College is introducing the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS). All Degree students are expected to put in a minimum of 160 Credits for the completion of the Undergraduate Course. In this Triple Major System, all students choose any one combination of three Major subjects offered. During the first two years, they learn languages (Part I & II), the Foundation Courses (Part III), and the three Major Subjects (Part VI). They also put in 50 Hours in ALERT, the Extension Activities (Part IV) besides involving themselves in any one of the Extracurricular Activities like NCC/NSS/SPORTS/GAMES/AICUF, etc., (Part V).

The second year students, besides undergoing the regular curriculum, also choose two General Electives (Part IX) from across the streams. These courses are add-on, career-oriented courses which will make them more employable at the end of their Degree studies. The third year students, besides studying their regular subjects, also pick up two Subject Electives - one knowledge-based (Part VII) & another skill-based (Part VIII) - in each of the three Major subjects. In order to make students research-oriented, all final year students are to undertake a Project Work (Part X) and submit their Dissertation for Viva Voce. All these ten parts are vital components of the Degree Curriculum under CBCS.

The following courses and subjects are offered under the CBCS:
Part I: English
Part II: Telugu/Hindi/(Instruction in Sanskrit will be provided to students at their own cost.)
Part III: Foundation Courses: Indian Heritage & Culture, Science & Civilisation, Environmental education, Fundamentals of Information Technology, Value Education/Religious Instruction, etc.
Part IV: Extension Activities: ALERT (Andhra Loyola Extension for Rural Transformation)
Part V: Extracurricular Activities: NCC/NSS/SPORTS/GAMES/AICUF, etc.
Part VI: Three Major Subjects
Part VII: Three Subject Electives (Knowledge-based)
Part VIII: Three Subject Electives (Skill-based)
Part IX: Two General Electives (Certificate Courses)
Part X: Project Work
